Day 5 of Juicing more and Day 11 of cycle 2 of Paleo Diet!

Oh my goodness! Who knew I would feel so much better by changing the way I eat. Okay, somebody knew and I did too. I just wasn't listening to anyone or to myself.

I have tried juicing and eating healthy in the past but I was not really ready for the life change. Now that I am 10 days away from turning 50, God willing, I wanting to live at least another 50 years (not just exist but live), I am truly taking my health seriously. So, I am making myself accountable for everything I eat.

This week, I am going to add shakeology and fruit smoothies made with almond milk to my diet. And since it is getting warm, I am lacing up my sneakers and me and my dog (Alexandria) are going to the park or lake and walk until we get tired. She's a little chubby too, so she can use the exercise as well.

As always, I invite you, you and you to join me on my life journey. If you are ready leave me a comment. Hit me up on Facebook or go to my website and send me a private message. Www.fat2phat2fit.com

Day 3 of Juicing More!

Today is the 3rd day of getting more fruits and veggies in my diet by juicing.  Again, I am not doing a juice fast or diet.  I simply want to be for healthy and get as much nutrients that I can in a day and I find juicing to be the best way.

Let's look yesterday.  I had 32 oz. of  juice, I had some smoked almonds and red skin peanuts and for dinner, I had a large salad with 2 boiled eggs, 1 link of hot sausage and salad dressing and plenty of water during the day.

Today, I am starting the day with 32 oz. of juice again.  Here is a picture.

In this juice is:  Lettuce, broccoli, kale, spinach, carrots, 2 oranges, 3 apples, and 2 pears. So if you count this up, there is about 13 - 15 servings of fruits and veggies.  Way more than I would get if I tried to eat all of them.  Seriously, that would not happen.

I must say in only 3 short days, I am feeling amazing.  I don't allow myself to get hungry.  I have more energy than before.  I get so much accomplished in a day.

As ways, have a wonderful and blessed day.

Changing Course a little!

Yesterday, I decided to change course for a little while.  I am still doing the Paleo diet but I want to get much more fruits and veggies in my diet, so I started juicing more yesterday.  I had juice for most of the day, okay, well all day until late evening, in which I had a few nuts.

I am not saying that I am on a juice fast but I am making juicing a major component  in my healthy life journey.  I am also going to make sure I drink enough water.  At least 10 glasses a day.

I don't plan on going to the grocery store anytime soon. I have enough fruits and veggie for a few days. Then I will go to Sam's Club to get more.  I will only Purchase a sweet at a time.  I don't want to buy to much and not be able to use it before it goes bad.

You know juicing can be expensive but it does not have to be.  There is a program in most communities called: CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), in which you can partner with local farmers for a small fee and receive a monthly box of seasonal fruits and veggies.  Google Community Supported Agriculture and the city or state you live in and if they are available they will show up.

If you live in or around eastern North Carolina here is the link for the CSA.  http://www.marketfreshcsa.com/recipes.html

Where I live there is also a CSA where you can receive meats from grass feed animals.  I've already signed up; however there is a 4 - 6 month waitlist.  I'm on the waitlist.

I have been doing a lot of research in order to live a healthier life.  As I find information that is worth sharing, I will share.  I will only share information that I believe in.  However; it is up to you to know what you are getting into.  You are responsible for your own choices.  Do your research. Don't just rely on mine or anybody else.

As always post your comments, suggestions and/or questions.  What are you doing to live a healthy life? How/What do you eat?  What kinds of physical activities are you doing? We have one body, let's treat it well.  I would love to hear about you.  Talk to me.

Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Paleo Diet 2nd Cycle - Day 3

Today is day 3 of Cycle 2 of the Paleo Diet.  I must say that I am not as focused this time as I was the first time around.  I have been so busy that I have not really sat down and made my plan for this time.  But planning is the first thing on my agenda today, right after I finish this blog. Don't get me wrong I have not went completely back to my old habits.  I am eating healthy but I can make it a little cleaner.  So that is what I will do today.

Breakfast: 5 fruit and veggie juice (carrots, lettuce, grapes, apple, and an orange).

To become a certified personal trainer, I need to stay focused and go the distance and beyond.  Let's do this.

As always have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

Leave a comment or any suggestions or questions.

1Love!

Paleo Diet - 2nd cycle, day 1

So in order to help you all as well as myself make it through this 2nd round of the Paleo Diet, I am taking a different approach.  I am going to blog at least once a day.  I want to track the way I am feeling and maybe we can help each other through this.  I don't think it will be that difficult this time around.  They say it takes 21 days to change a habit.  I think I have changed my eating habits. I don't really care to eat the way I use to.

So lets start the day and the 2nd cycle.

This morning I am juicing.  I just really really want to.  My body is craving the nutrients from the fruits and veggies.  That in itself is an improvement over where I was before I begun the first cycle.  Ok, I am going to juice.  I'll be back later to tell you what I juiced.

As always have a wonderful day. 1 LOVE.

End of 21 day Paleo Challenge and Weigh in

I know,  some of you may be asking what I am doing.  I started this 21 day challenge as a 21 day Wheat Free/Gluten Free Challenge.  Well it remained that but I went a step further and changed it on Day 1 to the Paleo Diet.  In the next post (later this week)  I will outline the difference between the two.

My go to workout is kettlebell.  I like kettlebell workouts because you can get cardio and strength training all in one.

Right now, since it is day 22, I wanted to give you all an up date.

The End but A New Beginning!

Today, March 25, 2013, is the 21st day of my 21 day Paleo Diet challenge.  The last 3 weeks have been very interesting and has taught me a lot about myself.  It has taught me that I am in control of who I am, how I eat, what I eat and the size that I am.  It showed me that, I have the will power and determination to change ME.

Don't get me wrong, there have been some days when I wanted to eat whatever, I could get my hands on.  I have had the cravings for ice cream, chocolate and pizza.  By no means have I been perfect the last 3 weeks.  I did give into the chocolate craving a time or two, with just a squirt of light chocolate syrup and believe when I say just a little bit and it did the trick.  It satisfied that craving and I was able to move on and continue on my journey.

I have attended several functions in the last 3 weeks and stayed away from the sweets and other foods that are not good for ME.

I did not exercise every day but most days of the week.  My goal is to get at least 30 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of strength training, 10 minutes of abs and 10 minutes of flexible training in each day.

Tomorrow morning I will weigh in.  Although I do not expect to see a huge change in the scale, I already see the change in my body and the way my clothes fit.  I do believe I am down a pant size but the best benefit of the last 21 days is how amazing I feel.  I have more energy.  I am more productive in my day and my life.  And I am more active and focus than I have been in many many years.  I have not had one stomach ache or headache since I started this journey 21 days ago.

With all the benefits that I am already reaping in just 21 days as the title of this blog states:  The End but A New Beginning.  I have come to the end of the FIRST 21 days but this is a NEW BEGINNING as to how I will live my life and feed my body and mind.  So I will continue with the Paleo diet.  What I plan on doing for the next cycle (and yes I will continue to use 21 days as a cycle), is to chart every thing I eat and all my exercise.  I will post a sample meal plan, recipes and my workout.

So with that said, after weigh in tomorrow, Tuesday, March 26, 2013, I will start cycle 2 of the 21 day Paleo Diet Challenge.  I encourage you all to try this.  You can give 21 days to start changing your life.  If you want or need help or information, leave me a comment, ask me any questions you want related to the Paleo life style.  This is my new life style.

Enjoy your day.

21 Day Wheat Free/Gluten Free Challenge

On March 5, 2013, I started a 21 day wheat free and gluten free diet. My initial goal was to go 21 days without any wheat products or food that contained gluten. The goal was to eat more meat, veggies and fruit.  However,  I had to go meal by meal, day by day to determined what was okay to eat.  I must admit this was challenging.  I had no idea that most the foods I was consuming would be removed from my diet.  But as the days came and went, I found it easier and more rewarding that I was adjusting very well to this way of eating.

On the first day, March 5, 2013, I was searching the Internet on the topic.  While looking at youtube videos, I came across a program called the Paleo Diet.  Although, I never heard of it, there was a lot of information on the diet.  I was intrigued by what I was hearing, reading and seeing.  So decided to give it a try.  I ordered several books and read up on the program and came to the conclusion this is exactly what I needed and wanted to find out if it would work for me.  So I switched my 21 day challenge over to a 21 day Paleo diet challenge.

It really was not that difficult to do.  After about the third day, I no longer felt bloated and uncomfortable.  After 5 days I had lost 2 inches off my waist.  This was more than enough incentive to keep me going.

Although, I've sailed through most days without a problem, day 10 was the biggest challenge of all days.  For some reason, I wanted to eat all day and in addition to wanting to eat all day, my sweet tooth kicked in to the max.  I generally have a sweet tooth but this was a more pronounced sweet tooth. On days 1 through 9, I had no problem satisfying my sweet tooth with some mixed fruit but I was just not doing the trick this time.  Everything started racing through my mind.  I had to find a way to satisfy my sweet tooth as well as not put everything I had done in jeopardy.

I started looking in the cabinets and freezer for something sweet.  Now I have to tell you that I have chocolate candy bars in my freezer, that I purchased from a fund raiser for the kids and forgot to give to them.  I also have 2 tubs of ice cream, left over from my grand baby's 1st birthday party but I knew if I would have taken even a little taste (calling myself satisfying my sweet tooth) that it would not be enough.  So I decided not to have any of it.  I then found a tub of cool whip in the freezer and cans of fruit (in natural fruit juice) in the cabinet. I opened 2 cans (50 cals each) and put in a bowl and topped with a couple of tablespoons of cool whip.  And low and behold it did the trick.  Satisfied my sweet tooth and did not kill my program.  I will make sure I always have can fruit and cool whip (light) in my house.  This will be my go to, when I have a sweet tooth.

I do workout 4 to 5 days a week.  Nothing complicated. 30 mins of cardio and 20 mins of strength training and some ab work.

I must say, I have more energy then before.  I sleep better at night and get so much more accomplished during the day.

I decided  not to weigh myself until the end of the 21 days.  I know that I have lost several inches and started to see a change in my body half way through the 21 days.  I will weigh at the end of the 21 days.  Actually, the morning following the 21st day.  I will post my results and give you my final thoughts on this program.

There are several good books out about the Paleo diet.  I also have several of the cookbooks.  Here are a few.  http://56a01iqdvqd-8u39bhkh517sca.hop.clickbank.net/

Becoming a Certified Personal Trainer.

I am on a journey to get fit and to become a certified personal trainer.  I started the course work part of this journey June 2012.  As I have learned so many things, I am starting to put them into partice. Although, I did not put it to use, I thought I knew a lot about exercise and nutrition.  Well, need less to say, as I have move along in my course work,  I have learned that I did not know much at all.  There really is a science to losing weight and getting in shape.

As I go along on this journey, I invite you to come with me.  I will share with you what works for me and what does not.  I will provide helpful information as I learn and train.
